O’Hare & McGovern Scoops Top Award Second Year In A Row!

O’Hare & McGovern has been declared winner of the most prestigious prize in the Northern Ireland construction industry after being voted for the second year running winner of the ‘Overall Excellence Award’ at the Construction Excellence Awards hosted by the Construction Employers Federation (CEF) in partnership with Specify magazine.

The company obtained the top accolade in recognition for its work on the upgrading of the Irish Football Association’s new national stadium at Windsor Park, Belfast, which has been critically claimed as one of the top soccer venues throughout Britain and Ireland.

The stadium has a 18,500 capacity, and the project included the development of new headquarters for the IFA, as well as other state of the art facilities, corporate accommodation, health and fitness suites, conference/training facilities, changing accommodation and an outstanding media centre.

Judges said the award ‘best exemplifies dedication to the pursuit of excellence in construction’.

Senior O’Hare & McGovern management, including managing director Martin Lennon and Nick Oldfield who was in charge of the £35m redevelopment were among hundreds of guests who attending the awards ceremony at the Culloden Hotel at Cultra, Co Down.

Congratulating OHMG, CEF Managing Director John Armstrong said,

“O’Hare & McGovern’s work in delivering the wonderful stadium is an excellent example of how our local construction industry is pivotal to the development of so many important projects across a wide range of sectors in Northern Ireland each year.”

“Winning the ‘Overall Award’ for a second year in a row is a significant achievement and it speaks to the relationship that O’Hare & McGovern consistently have with clients, sub-contractors and other construction professionals in terms of delivering high quality infrastructure”.

O’Hare & McGovern also obtained the Commercial Construction Award for its work on the stadium.

This was the 17th year of the CEF awards with a record 110 entries competing in more than 14 categories.
