School Recruitment Vital to Industry Future
OHMG staff have attended a series of school and college careers events highlighting job opportunities within the construction industry.
Special presentations, which involved the use of company apprenticeships video, were delivered to almost 300 pupils and students, as well as teachers and lecturers.
The three Southern Regional Colleges in Craigavon, Armagh and Newry, as well as schools which included Parkhall Integrated College, Antrim, St Mark’s High School, Warrenpoint, St Paul’s, Bessbrook, St Genevieve’s, Belfast and Our Lady’s Grammar, Newry, were among the venues.
The talks focused mainly on existing employment opportunities, as well as providing an insight into the type of roles available within modern constructions companies such as OHMG.
The company is heavily involved with the Institute of Civil Engineering, and details about the promotion of apprenticeships that are being offered for the first time this year were also discussed at the open days.
Staff headed up by Noel McKee, Pre Construction Manager, and which included Sean Morgan, Bid Co-Ordinator, Shane Quinn, Bid Co-Ordinator and Laura Doran, Bid/Marketing Assistant, attended the Belfast Jobs Fair organised by the Department for the Communities and the City Council, and also the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Jobs Fair.
Those events followed on from the Ulster University (Jordanstown) Autumn Graduate and Work Placement Recruitment Fair last year.
Noel McKee said: “OHMG is 100% committed to making as many school leavers and graduates as possible aware of all the career opportunities available within our industry.
“We place considerable emphasis on that recruitment policy which is a key part of the company’s future development.”
